Atkinson Chairman North American Numbering Council Columbia University Uris Hall 3022 Broadway, Room 1A New York, NY 10027-6902 rca53@columbia.edu Cheryl L. Callahan Designated Federal Officer (DFO) North American Numbering Council ccallaha@fcc.gov Deborah J. Blue Special Assistant to the DFO North American Numbering Council dblue@fcc.gov Dear Mr. Atkinson, Ms. Callahan and Ms. Blue: As representatives of the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC), we request the opportunity to briefly address the North American Numbering Council (NANC) at its January 15, 2002 meeting. The IPUC seeks the NANC’s support of our FCC petition for a waiver of NPA Relief Guidelines that require number planning area (NPA) lives to balance within 10 years. The IPUC believes that a three-way geographic split of the 208 NPA is in Idaho’s best interest even though the projected lives of the resulting NPAs are 13, 17 and 40 years, respectively. Please let us know if and when we have been placed on the agenda, as well as any other procedural information we should be aware of. While we would prefer to be on the morning agenda, we will make ourselves available as suits the Council’s needs. In the event that we are placed on the agenda, we have enclosed a brief summary of our request, the IPUC’s Order authorizing the three-way split and a relief plan map for prefiling purposes. Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely, Lisa Nordstrom, Idaho Deputy Attorney General (lnordst@puc.state.id.us) Doug Cooley, IPUC Telecommunications Analyst (dcooley@puc.state.id.us)
