RE: CASE NO. GNR-T-00-06, APPLICATION OF UNIVERSAL ACCESS, INC. FOR A CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY
On February 10, 2000, Universal Access, Inc. filed an Application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide local exchange telecommunication services within the state of Idaho. Universal represents that it intends to provide all forms of intrastate local exchange and interexchange services and intends to resell local services provided by U S WEST and GTE in the areas of the state served by those companies.
On April 25, 2000, the Commission issued a Notice of Application and Notice of Modified Procedure. During the comment period, written comments were filed only by the Commission Staff. Staff determined that Universal’s Application satisfies the requirement of the Commission for approval of a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide local exchange services within the state of Idaho. Staff therefore recommends approval of the Application of Universal Access, Inc.
