Subject: Edge Wireless Application for Universal Service Funds
Dear Commission:
It has come to our attention that Edge Wireless has applied for an Eligible Telecommunications
Carrier (ETC) designation and with that requesting Universal Service Funds to improve service
in rural Idaho. The southern region operations of Idaho Power Company depend on Edge
Wireless s communication to service our energy customers. Currently, we have found areas with
minimal to no cell phone coverage. We understand that the requested funds will be utilized to
construct new towers in areas of not only minimal wireless service but some with minimal
landline service (i.e. Castleford/Clover and Dietrich/Richfield areas). Having available
communications in times of emergency is essential in restoring power. We would like to
encourage your approval of Edge Wireless s application.
