On May 15, 1998, Citizens Telecommunications Company of Idaho filed an Application to reduce access rates and rebalance other rates for telecommunications services pursuant to Idaho Public Utilities Commission Rule 121. IDAPA 31.01.01.121. Citizens also proposed establishing extended area service (EAS) in the majority of its exchanges, thereby addressing pending EAS petitions in Case Nos. GNR-T-96-2, GNR-T-96-8 and GNR-T-97-10. It proposed to modify EAS for Aberdeen to Blackfoot and American Falls which was approved by the Commission in GNR-T-96-7 and which is currently scheduled to become effective July 11, 1998. Order No. 27412. The Notice of Application and Notice of Intervention Deadline was issued on June 5, 1998.
On June 19, 1998, the Commission issued a Notice of Modified Procedure, Notice of Public Hearings and Order of Consolidation, consolidating Case Nos. GNR-T-96-2, GNR-T-96-8 and GNR-T-97-10 with this docket. Order No. 27578. Comments were due July 10, 1998. On
July 1, 1998, Staff filed a Motion for Extension of Time, extending the comment period for an additional twenty-one (21) days. Comments will be due on July 31, 1998.
Based on the record and on the motion, the Commission grants Staffs motion. Comments are due on July 31, 1998.
The next public hearing taking testimony from members of the public regarding this Application and EAS cases, GNR-T-96-2, GNR-T-96-7, GNR-T-96-8 and GNR-T-97-10 is scheduled to held at 6:30 P.M., AUGUST 4, 1998, at the SHORE LODGE, 501 WEST LAKE STREET in MCCALL, IDAHO. There is no change in that public hearing date.
FINDINGS
The Commission finds that there is good cause to grant the motion for extension.
O R D E R
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that Staffs Motion is granted and all comments must be received by July 31, 1998. Any person desiring to state a position on this Application, or the pending EAS petitions, may file a written comment in support or opposition with the Commission by July 31, 1998.
