PO Box 9901 Vancouver, WA 98668-8701 RE: Century Telephone’s Acquisition of PTI Dear Mr. Wonnell: On July 18, 1997, the Commission received your “formal” Notice advising the Commission that Century Telephone Enterprises intends to acquire the entire stock of Pacific Telecom, Inc.  (PTI).  PTI operates as Gem States Utilities Corporation and serves approximately 1,500 access lines in and around Grandview, Idaho.  Your transmittal letter states that Century’s acquisition of PTI “will result in no changes to the regulated books, rates or services of Gem State.” The Commission reviewed your Notice at its public decision meeting of August 14, 1997.  Based upon its review, the Commission has concluded that the holding company stock transaction requires no further proceedings.  Accordingly, the Commission has instructed me to provide you with this confirmation.
