SUBJECT:BRIAN WATER'S APPLICATION FOR INCREASE IN RATES, CASE
NO. BRN-07-
On September 10, 2007, Brian Water Corporation filed a one-page Application to
increase its rates. The Company did not request an effective date for its proposed new rates.
THE APPLICATION
The Company states that its last rate increase was in 2001. The Company proposes
to raise its current rate of $10.50 per month for the first 4 000 gallons to $15.00 per month. The
Company proposes no change to the charge of $1.08/1 000 gallons of use over the initial 4 000
per month. The Company states that it has incurred $12 000 in additional repair expenses
increased electric rates, and will need additional funds to replace aging meters.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Company s Application be processed by Modified
Procedure. Because the request to increase rates will require an extensive audit, and because of
the current workload and pending general rate cases at the Commission, Staff recommends that a
comment deadline be set for January 25 , 2008.
COMMISSION DECISION
Does the Commission preliminarily find that the public interest may not require a
hearing to consider the issues presented, and that this proceeding may be processed under
Modified Procedure as requested by the Company and recommended by Staff?
