Our water, a public utility, is now owned by a for profit publicly traded company. The letter announcing this stated that "Your rate for water service will remain the same. There are no changes to rates as a result of the merger." In September, just 6 months later, Veolia is seeking a 24.1% increase in our rates. ***Veolia says that they updated, improved, etc the water situation BUT they said they would not be raising rates AND they are a private company owning our Public water system. Please block this rate increase and monitor this private company for breaking their promises. WHY does a non-USA company own our water system - change this and do what is necessary to support the citizens against this money increase grab. Thank you." ------ ] From:PUCWeb Notification To:Jan Noriyuki Subject:Notice: A comment was submitted to PUCWeb Date:Friday, October 28, 2022 10:00:07 AM The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Richard Logan Submission Time: Oct 28 2022 9:25AMEmail: rickjohnlogab@gmail.com Telephone: 208-340-4417Address: 2406 S. And please tell me that these improvements are not to support the new subdivisions and apartment complexes that are popping up all over the treasure valley, and you’re expecting the good people of the cities to pay for that. This cost should be done and covered by the developers builders and the people purchasing the homes and properties. please do not vote this increase in right now. Once inflation gets under control, then, maybe yes. I realize improvements need to be made in all utility infrastructures. Thank you. Hammond, Jr., I find Veolia North America's request for a substantial 24.1% rate increase concerning, given their claim just 7 months ago that the Suez merger would not result in a rate increase. Veolia had a 9.1% increase in revenue from 2020 to 2021 (26 billion to 28.5 billion) I strongly believe they did the necessary calculations to ensure continued profit from their Boise operations, despite their investment costs, without resorting to extreme price hikes. This is a time of economic uncertainty for all Idahoans. I urge the Idaho Public Utilities Commission to stand against any price hikes beyond the rate of inflation. Sincerely, Lane Genovese " ------ From:PUCWeb Notification To:Jan Noriyuki Subject:Notice: A comment was submitted to PUCWeb Date:Friday, October 28, 2022 1:00:07 PM The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Laurie Genovese Submission Time: Oct 28 2022 12:12PMEmail: laurieneile@gmail.com Telephone: 959-933-1861Address: 397 Story Book Way Eagle , ID 83616 Name of Utility Company: Veolia Case ID: VEO-W-22-02 Comment: "Commissioners Eric Anderson, John Chatburn and John Hammond- Veolia North Americas request for a whopping 24.1% rate increase is concerning given seven months ago they said the Suez merger would not result in a rate increase. We are already stretched with food, and gas prices. Please stand against this price hike.
