I can not possibly imagine how they can justify a further increase. Improvements are a required part of running a utility company and it is already factored into their revenues. Now Veolia wants a rate increase? There are only 2 of us, and this is ridiculous. I thought it was because of our sprinkler system but it malfunctioned, and we have not been using it to water our lawn and we still are paying more for water than electricity. I cannot believe they can justify a rate increase when their rates are already too high." ------ Name: Gary RoederSubmission Time: Oct 25 2022 5:42PM Email: roedernorth@gmail.comTelephone: 208-963-1534 Address: 2198 W Bent Bow CtBoise, ID 83703 Name of Utility Company: Veolia Case ID: VEO-W-22-02 Comment: "I am in receipt of the proposed rate change by Veolia. A 24% rate increase is well above the rate of inflation. Veolia should not expect its customers to pay for their buyout of Suez Water. The IPUC should carefully evaluate the statements and data submitted by Veolia, and adjust the rate increase to a rate not to exceed inflation." ------ From:PUCWeb Notification To:Jan Noriyuki Subject:Notice: A comment was submitted to PUCWeb Date:Wednesday, October 26, 2022 9:00:06 AM The following comments were submitted via PUCWeb: Name: joshua rafkind Submission Time: Oct 26 2022 8:56AMEmail: rafkindj@gmail.com Telephone: 208-859-3911Address: 3302 N Tamarack boise, ID 83703 Name of Utility Company: Veolia Case ID: VEO-W-22-02 Comment: "An increase of 24.1% is excessive. Veolia should not be allowed to increase theirbill this much, if they truly demonstrate need for increased revenue they should be required to undertake cost cutting measures instead of passing on all their costs to the consumers. Also itmust be noted that they omitted the case number in their flyer sent out, this case number is required to comment on the proposed change. Omitting this essential piece required for publiccomment shows a lack of good faith. Allowing Veolia to increase their rates at such a large percentage will cause my family financial hardship. Please do not approve their request. The State of Idaho knows that this is a depressed economy and the costs of everything is going up at alarming rates.Everyone knows how we got here so there is no reason to rehearse the calamity here. In acknowledgement of the pandemic and the skyrocketing costs of living, Governor Brad Littlehas implemented certain austerity measures to reduce the overhead of government in Idaho. Additionally, Gov. Little gave back taxes in Idaho two years in a row to help with the extremeinflation and under employment. I myself am retired and have little resources. The windfall of $600 returned back by Gov. Little will be largely used to pay the cost of foreign ownedVeolia. Veolia took over a long running operation and invested as they say fit, but not deserving of a 25% hike in our limited income state. We already have 15% of our folks inpoverty and 16% retired, and they are not prepared for another $28 a month increase. Veolia needs to do the same austerity measures as we all have been required to do in order to survive. I suggest that Veolia would not be able to increase more than half of the 8.7% increase in Social Security benefits. The 31% of Idahoans that have limited resources should not be eating bread and milk while Veolia eats cake! The water prices are already too high as it is!! Thanks for listening, Tim" ------
