Comment:I notice they made a return of about 6.5%in 2014 on their business under current
rates, according to the paperwork they filed. When I review information on public utilities
in other areas of the country,ROl much higher than this has come under scrutiny as being too
high from consumer advocates.
They are selling water, not iPhones.Giving them a double digit increase in their rates is
not reasonable considering the fundamental nature of what is being provided.
If they have increased operating costs, maybe they should look for ways to reduce them,as
many other businesses have had to do in order to remain profitable. When I looked up “united
water executive compensation”I found this link:
http://documents.foodandwaterwatch.org/doc/United Water a Corporate Profile.pdf
In it,it documents a number of problems with performance -and their proposal talks of rate
increases to maintain performance.Yeah,I think paring their rate increase way back from
what they ask for to what is reasonable might be a good idea.
I hope you show some backbone.

Comment:With my recent water bill I received a letter explaining that United Water has
applied for a rate increase. The letter did not include the Case#so the case#above may not
be correct.
In the letter the company listed a few projects they had completed or worked on that
necessitate their collecting higher rates. One example was “a new storage tank to sustain
pressure and improve fire protection in the Bogus Basin Road area.”
Did this project and possibly others they have completed, receive subsidies from the city or
the county or perhaps some other governmental entity? If so perhaps the increased rate could
be lower than the requested rate,if you do warrant an increase at all?
