I' m writing in response to the rate increase filing by United Water. A 19% increase cannot
be justified period. In a time when virtually every cost of living is increasing, and while
jobs, salaries and home values are decreasing, it doesn't make sense to hit the public with
more hardship. Consumption is decreasing because people can't afford water because it has
become so costly. At least half of my neighbors no longer water their grass and plants.
Next year I won't be either because I can't afford having lawn anymore. Our beautiful green
town will soon be brown. I also know of several families that encourage urinating outside to
save water. Are you kidding me?
I hope that IPUC sees the nonsense in this rate increase application. Or it may soon be your
neighbor peeing on the fence...

This request should be rejected. We are routinely asked by United Water, and all utilities
for that matter, to reduce our usage of their utility to conserve resources. We cut back on
usage in general and invest money in our property for landscaping and appliancees that use
less resources to comply with the requests. It is amazing that they have the audici ty to now
tell us that since we did what they asked, we will have to pay more for their product. I
would hope that the Commission would see this request, and any others like it, for what it
really is. In my opinion this is a company who has poorly managed the business and now
thinks the public should bear the cost for their mistakes and greed.

It i S patently unreasonable that in this time of economic hardship for so many of us, United
Water would be granted a rate increase, and one partly based on declining use. We should be
using lessl
I i m already appalled at paying a regular fat 'customer charge' (why?) and all the other fees,
including one for 'safe water', no less.
Uni ted Water is not interested in serving Idaho residents. It's interested in making more and
more money for its international parent. Surely it is time to say i no' I Thanks.
