As most respondents have stated we pay United Water to promote conservation. Now that usage
has declined they want a general rate increase to cover their reduced income. I believe they
should be reimbursed for maintenance costs but not for reduced income a situation we all
experience!

I strongly urge the puc to deny the 19.9 % increase they have submitted. United water wants
people to conserve water then all of a sudden they want to increase rates because people have
cut back on water consumtion I don i t think their request for a rate increase has any merit!!!

I recently received a letter stating that United Water was requesting a rate increase. A
couple of the reasons sited were the cost to the company for improvements to the water
systems and the lack of revenue due to a drop in water useage.
It could be argued that expensive improvements should not be made during unstable economic
times j maintenance YES , but probably not improvements. As to water usage, we are all trying
to conserve (and are encouraged to do so), and it feels like we are being punished with an
increase per unit for not using enough units. This is ridiculous.
If Micron were to increase the price of their product to compensate for a lack of sales then
they would likely go out of business. Wi th the water company , it is unlikely that their
customers can go elsewhere so I think they just need to i tighten up their belts' (like the
rest of us) and be happy they have a loyal consumer base.
