Dear Sirs:
I am writing to object to United Water Idaho's application for rate relief.
It appears that conservation is not in the best interests of the consumer. Per meter consumption
goes down and the rates go up. But that's what we are asked to do, conserve.
I'm not sure that United Water knows what it is doing in Boise. They certainly do not know
that 36th and Hil Road is in northwest Boise, not northeast Boise.
A 19.9% rate increase is ridiculous under the circumstances.

United Water charges $18.10 every 2 months as a customer charge. Intermountain Gas charges
$2.50 a month Idaho power charges $4.00 a month. Thats 4 1/2 times more than idaho power and
over 7 times more than Intermountain gas. Yet United Water still wants more there last
increase was only a year and a half ago. At the time United water claimed the increase was
to promote water conservation, it worked now united water wants more because people are
conserving. For the last few years everyone else is making due with less, except United Water
once again they want more. Its time to tell United water NO.

Thank you for allowing me to comment.
The request by United Water for a 20% residential increase is rather interesting since for
several years they have badgered consumers to conserve water. So now ~ in addition to an
existing surcharge on water from mid April until October ~ the time of year most consumers need
more water for irrigation~ once again the consumer is being asked to pay for following their
request to conserve water.
How arrogant! My water bills are already outrageous compared to other water utilities and I
have no other option for irrigation.
This French owned company should reward consumers for water conservation not just keep asking
for more money. Their service levels are adequate and while I understand the need for
upgrades~ why did they not incorporate this into their numerous request for water
conservation and perhaps use the surcharge for these expenditures. The customers of United
water have no other options for water. I strongly request that their request for an increase
of any amount be declined. thaks again for allowing me to comment.

I am opposed to the rate increase!!! Case # UWI -W-11002 About 7 yrs. ago when souther Idaho
was in a drought for several years a water SURCHARGE was imposed to get conumers to reduce
water use.... no water shortage the past 2 yrs. so why hasn i t the SURCHARGE been
dropped. . . just like property taxes once its in its never dropped... just rate & levy
increases.. .Seems a bit unethical especially since UNITED WATER is on the New York stock
exchange... .how about a dividend for its customers???
