The company asked for a March 13 effective date. The order issued today suspends that effective date for up to six months to allow more time for the commission to examine the company’s request.   Parties who want to intervene to present evidence or cross-examine witnesses must file a petition to intervene by March 21. Persons who want to present their view without parties’ rights of participation and cross-examination are not required to intervene and may present their comments at any time. The commission will later announce dates for public workshops and hearings.   United Water serves about 79,000 households in Boise and the surrounding area. The company is asking to increase its annual revenues by $5.9 million to recover expenses for more than $2 million in wellhead treatment, $1.5 million in water storage facilities and $4.8 million in infrastructure including seven miles of water mains, 700 water services and 12,000 meters.   The commission staff, which includes attorneys, auditors and engineers, now begins an extensive process to investigate United Water’s application. The commission has the authority to approve, modify or reject the application.   Documents related to the case are available on the commission’s Web site at http://www.puc.idaho.gov/www.puc.idaho.gov.
