We are strongly opposed. The last rate increase cost a great deal and in addition our homeowners association has to raise the our rates to accomodate the changes. A greater than 8 percent rate increase in one year is much greater than the cost of living wage rate increase which was zero. People on fixed incomes did not get a raise. Medicaid andMedicare are decreased! ! !! There are very few people who got an 8% pay rate increase, let along 18%. This is also money that will be leaving our country. You published this on the same page as deficit soars to new high... Let's leave it alone. Let salaries keep up wi th cost of living. Please do not increase rate. Idaho is not an affordable state to live in any more. Don t price it off the market, Thank you, for your consideration of this comment. If their planning wizards did not have the courage, foresight, or honesty to have these costspre-paid by developers and newcomers, that is their problem. Newcomers and developers should fund the infrastructure costs they are creating, According to my friends in local law enforcement, 70% of the increase in crime in the last 10 years is attributable to Californians who moved in during that period. As small compensation for increased crime, drug activity, porn shops, traffic, polution, etc etc, they should at least out of shame be more that willing to pay for the problems they, and the developers who paved their way, have caused. Primary among the latter is Dirk Kempthorne who has gotten rich while ruining our State, Impact fees, even retroactively, levied on anyone who has moved into Idaho in the last 15 years is preferable to demanding that longstanding residents build schools, roads, water lines and other infrastructure for developers and Californians who arrived in Idaho with huge profits from their California real estate. They will continue to come as long as Millionaire developers and their Politician stooges pave the way with someone else s money. Transaction 10: 2121746. If I understand basic economics correctly, a company can remain profitable if they increase volume and reduce margin. I understand that United Water has added 10,500 new customers to their system and that this has required new infrastructure costs. However most business would be delighted to have that many new customers and they would invest in their business from their own funds to accomodate these new customers. Why does a public utility always have to ask for huge increases when this occurs? I retired just 10 years ago and my income is relatively fixed with the exception of social security which has a very modest inflation factor each year. We are having a very difficult time dealing with all of the huge increases in property taxes, gasoline prices, Idaho Power and natural gas increases when our fixed income has very modest increases each year. And now we have to deal with another giant increase for our water. Where does all this end? I suspect it will end with my wife and I in the "poor house . I guess I can only hope that we will not live to see that happen to us. respectfully submitted, David Perkins Transaction 10: 2111023.
