I was disappointed in reading that the State Regulators ok-ed a rate hike
I was more disappointed that the article you wrote had no empathy on insight to the
problems caused many people by the 68% Increase.
The average user you Quoted includes apartment and condo owners and many people that do
not even know they have a water bill. It is not a true represent ion of the homeowner in
Boise and community
Many of the Residents of this Community served by United Water have seen increase of tenfold since United water changed ownership several years ago. In addition
Many residents who do not have irrigation systems have Water bill in excess of Two Hundred
dollars currently with no relief in site. This is especially true in the
So. West end of the City and county. United Water was allowed to buy many community water
systems that truly offered water at affordable rates. The changes
Supposedly to cover costs far exceed most home owners ability to keep a community looking
upscale and not in slum conditions. I f you look and examine the areas
Wi thout irrigation systems It becomes evident that a solution for the community well being
is critical. I am not talking about acreages but normal developments.
No rate increases should be allowed without alterations in the supply sources i. e. water
from other sources other than well s be developed for any community or subdivision
That does not have alternate choices. How many homes have to kill their lawns turn brown
and spread gravel before we have slums or find some solutions.
