I have lived at this residence since July of 1973 and have seen the cost of residential water go up to a point that I just have to speak out. We pay more for water than Roswell, New Mexico, where there is REALLY a scant supply ofwater. Now United Water is requesting a 21.46 per cent increase. I say NO! I realize in negotiations you start high and settle for a lower per cent. But I believe there should be NO increase in rates. Capi tol improvements? Demands of customer base? Uni ted Water needs to be purchased by Ada County or Boise City. This way price could be controlled. Do we really need ads in the Idaho Statesman, stating how to run our water to remove brown sediment when they are flushing lines? Do we need cute mailers in our bills, NO we don How much do these functions cost and is the cost of a marketing manager and staff worth it to accomplish these goals. To the best of my knowledge I do not have a choice but to use United Water. So why these expenses? Capi tol improvement?Isn t this now a private company? Doesn t private business have to finance it's own capitol improvements? Customer base, how about Ada County new homes and business pay for the increased use of Uni ted Water. Uni ted Water is way out of line with this request. Sincerely, Drew Harold From: Clck Stauber To: Idaho Public Utilities Commlslo 116 jA.. Washington St. Boise, Idaho 83720 Dear Sir or Madam: This letter is in response to United Waters request for a 21.46 oAJ increase in our water rates. We oppose any increase in water fees. The fee increases constitutes a tax on those of us with fixed incomes. Subsidizing aggressive sub dividers appears to be the purpose. If the City of Boise or Ada County wishes to financially support sub dividers they should ask the voters for specific funding. Do not authorize this tax on homeowners! Impact fees, on subdivisions, are a fair way to raise money for such purposes as schools, roads, sewer, and water. The people in the new sub division receive the benefit. The home values will reflect these new services. Sincerely, sIs Richard L. Stauber Richard L. Stauber
