Regarding United Water s rate increase request filed November 30
2004.
Why would the public utilities commission even consider a rate increase of
22.35% for residential customers? They sell water and there is no possible
way that their costs could have increased this much unless they have
rampant fraud or Enron style accounting.
This rate increase should definitely be denied as it is so far above the cost of
inflation that it is ludicrous for them to ask for unless there is fraudulent
activity being conducted. If the public utilities commission were to grant this
request it really be a disgrace to the purpose of the commission.
Please provide me with dates of the public hearing, thanks

We strongly obj ect to the rate increases for water for residences.
We are retired and live on Social Security and a small pension. Thesmall annual increases in Social Security do not allow for increase
in the cost of water, electricity, taxes, insurance, besides the cost
for everyday expenses , gasoline, etc.
Please deny the request for increases in water from United Water of
Idaho , or make some exemption for retired families.

Comment description: I recieved a notice regarding the application by United Water
proposing a 22.35% increase for residencial users. I am strongly against this huge
increase all at once. I would certainly appreciate
a more gradual increase as I realize cost have gone up over the last 4 years. But,
don t let them have it all at once.

Comment description: I received a letter from United Water who filed an application to
increase the company s rates and charges for water service. I do not approve of a revenue
increase. In the letter United Water and the Columbia Water Treatment Plant has "carefully
managing its costs " to defer the need for a rate adj ustment. Please continue to monitor
and manage your costs; $ 6 a month or $ 7 2 a year increase for revenue is too much.
