SUBJECT: IN THE MATTER OF SUEZ WATER IDAHO INC.’S APPLICATION FOR
AUTHORITY TO INCREASE ITS RATES AND CHARGES FOR WATER
SERVICE IN THE STATE OF IDAHO; CASE NO. SUZ-W-20-02.

On September 30, 2020, SUEZ Water Idaho, Inc. (“SUEZ”) filed an Application
requesting authorization to raise the rates it charges for water service. On October 21, 2020, the
Commission issued a Notice of Application, a suspension of proposed effective date, and a Notice
of Intervention Deadline. Order No. 34819. The Commission suspended SUEZ’s proposed
effective date of October 31, 2020, for the statutory maximum period of 30 days plus 5 months.
The suspension period ends April 30, 2021.
Idaho Code §61-622(4) provides that prior to the expiration of the suspension period,
the Commission, “after a showing of good cause on the record,” may grant an additional 60 days’
suspension.
The record will close on April 20, 2021 after the technical hearing. Without an
additional period of suspension, the Commission will have only ten days to fully review the record,
deliberate, and issue a final order in this case. An extension would allow the Commission up to 60
additional days to make its decision but does not require the Commission to use the full period. If
granted, the new period of suspension would end on June 29, 2021.
The intervening parties have been informed regarding this request to extend the period
of suspension for the Commission’s benefit.
