CASE NO. SUZ-W-20-02
NOTICE OF EXTENSION OF
SUSPENSION PERIOD
ORDER NO. 35014
On September 30, 2020, SUEZ Water Idaho, Inc. (“SUEZ”) applied to raise the rates
for water service. On October 21, 2020, the Commission provided notice of the Application and
suspended SUEZ’s proposed October 31, 2020 effective date for 30 days plus 5 months. See Order
No. 34819.
At the Commission’s April 19, 2021 Decision Meeting, Commission Staff explained
that this suspension period would end April 30, 2021. Staff also noted the record would close at
the end of the April 20, 2021 technical hearing and, without an additional suspension period, the
Commission would have only ten days to fully review the record, deliberate, and issue a final
order. Staff informed the Commission it could extend the suspension period, which would allow
the Commission up to 60 more days to make its decision.
EXTENSION OF SUSPENSION PERIOD
Idaho Code §61-622(4) provides that before the suspension period expires, the
Commission, “after a showing of good cause on the record,” may grant an additional 60 days’
suspension. Noting the tight turnaround to review the record, deliberate, and issue a final order,
we find good cause on the record to extend the suspension period for an additional 60 days. We
note, however, that we will work to issue a final order as quickly as we reasonably and responsibly
can.
ORDER
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the effective date is suspended for an additional 60
days—until June 29, 2021—or until the Commission issues a final order accepting or rejecting the
settlement stipulation.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that parties continue to comply with Order No. 34781,
issued September 17, 2020. All pleadings should be filed with the Commission electronically and
shall be deemed timely filed when received by the Commission Secretary. See Rule 14.02. Service
