Comments reganding the raising of the water rates.
I am requesting that the water rates for Spirit Lake East not be incneased LO6% as requested by theSpinit Lake hJater Co. This is an outrageous amount of increase.
Nothing has incneased L@6%, especially my pay. I am retired and on a fixed income. If I get a raisein pay it is only a cost of living raise. This is usually around 2%. Many people in Spinit Lake
East and Tneepont are retired. Some have lost their jobs on been reduced to part time status. t^Jiththat comes a loss of medical insunance and a reduction in pay. And now a LO6% increase in the waterbill?! This increase cannot be justified.
Lets compare this rate increase to other products:
Gasoline is appnox. $3.7O. A tO6% increase would put the pnice at 97.62 a gallon!
MiIk is appnox. $3.80. A LO6% increase would put the pnice at $7.82 a gallon!
Propenty taxes. In this ane they ane approx $25@O/year. A LO6% incnease would put the price at
$S1SO a year!
Our country is in a depnession no matter what the curnent administnation claims. Peop1e are hurtingfinancially and waten is something you can't take out of youn life. It is the most necessary item
needed fon life itself. Water fon gardens help people reduce their food bitl. Water for lawns
helps keep one's propenty mone resistant to fine. This is not the time for such a drastic incnease
and a LO6% increase should NEVER be justified.
Please do not allow this increase to occun.
