I have lived in Spirit Lake for the past 12 years, we have had no maintenance on the watersystem; except in 2004 when the pump burned out, we were out of water for almost 2 weeks.They replaced the pump repaired the reservoir, they also installed a generator, but thegenerator only runs the transfer pump not the well pump. In Dec. 2006 we lost power at11: 00 pm and had no water by 7: 00 am the next morning and was without water for the next 3days.
I have a question, how could you use a reservoir of water when everybody is in bed and
usage is at a minimum? Also we were notified ONE WEEK later not to drink the waterwi thout boiling, because it might cause Escherichia Coli.
I feel, we the consumers of Spirit Lake East Water Co, have a hearing with the PUCCommissioners before any dedision can be made on rate increase.

I concur with the proposed filing for a rate increase only if:
1. The Spirit Lake East Water Co. places a generator to
provide water during power outages. That means a generator
that will pump water from the aqifer to the holding tank.
I have been without water on two occasions since October of
2004, once for five (5)days, and another time for Three (3)days.
2. That there is a reserve fund to accomodate emergency needs.
