Comment descriptIon: Spirit Lake East Water Co. failed for many years to maintain evenminimalwater service standards. Even with the recent improvements forced upon the
company, the water goes out whenever the electricity fails. Our homes are at risk because
we have inadequate water pressure to supply hydrants. Mr Hanson has failed to maintain the
system while collecting fees and now wants to be compensated for making the most limited,
inadequate improvements. If the comany had charged the proper prices and provided quality
service, he would not need to ask for such a large increase now. I urge you to NOT force
current rate payers to make up for the past mismanagement of the company. Since the
previous owners of our home did not seem to know that their was a water company, I doubt
that the company has shown even the most limited management skills in collecting payment
for the water they delivered. The owner and management of the company should accept the
financial burden for their years of neglect and mismanagement. Any rate increase should
reflect only reasonable costs for future maintenance and profits in keeping with the
quali ty of water service that we receive.
At this time, the water service provided is third rate and the company deserves third
rate compensation. When they provide decent service, they can get a decent return on theirinvestment.
