Mountain Utility Company is requesting a rate increase of 88% in their water rates, this is
totally unreasonable. Last year they raised the sewer rates from $31.00 to $45., a 68%
increase. They are also claiming that that they need to "make a substantial investment in
a new fire-flow reservoir this year." With my being one of the Fire Commissioners in the
fire district I know that the only reason that this is new reservoir is required is to provide
protection for the very large multi-family housing projects that Harbor has planned. It is
neither fair nor reasonable to expect the single family home owners to subsidize Harbor
building projects.
I am enclosing copies of water and utilities bills from the City of Sandpoint, Schweitzer
Basin Water Company (another water provider on the mountain) and Mountain Utility
Co. You will note that Mountain Utility Co. rates are at all ready much higher than what
the other surrounding water providers are charging.
I urge you to deny Mountain Utility Co. their proposed rate increase.

To Whom It May Concern:
I think it is very unfair for Mountain Utility Company to try and pass a rate increase on to
us when we are all ready paying a premium price for our utilities as it is. Please don t let
this happen.
