Comment description: We have just received notice of Resort Water Company s request for
an 88%
rate increase at Schweitzer Mountain Resort. While no one wants to seeprice increase, this is rediculous and quite typical of the owners, HarborProperties. They are attempting to gouge the consumer due to their
monopoly position. This increase will result in a further degradation of
services and consumer involvement due to the hostile enviroment this utility creating. The increase in unwarranted due to the limited demand for water
and their continuing over-charging for all services. Contrary to their claims,
they are very profitable as a whole.

Comment description: I own a townhouse at the Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort. I received
notice of the Resort Water Company s application for a rate increase of 88%. Resort Water
Company reports that it is not making money at the current charge of $33.00 per month.
The Mountain Utility Company, of which Resort Water Company is one part, has dramatically
raised rates on snow plowing, sewer and cable in the last 3 years, while eliminating
garbage pickup and establishing cost sharing with Bonner County for the snow plowing androads.
The Utility Company has a monopoly on all utility services at Schweitzer, with the
exception of telephone service. Most of the properties at Schweitzer sit vacant for 6 or
more months during the year, thereby placing absolutely no strain on the utility services
and insuring a maximum profit for the Utility Company. I find it impossible to believe
the Mountain Utility Company is not making a profit. A rate increase of 88% would be a
windfall for the Mountain Utility Company. I oppose any rate increase.
