Workshop is May 20 in Picabo water case Boise - Staff from the Idaho Public Utilities Commission will conduct a workshop May 20 in Picabo to answer questions relating to Picabo Livestock Company s request to increase water rates by $8 a month. The approximate 30 customers of the water system pay an un-metered flat rate of$14 per month from October through March and $26 per month from April through September. Nick Purdy, manager of the water system, proposes an increase of $8 per month. Added expenses for power as well as interest on investment in a new well have increase yearly operating expenses, the company maintains. A well was drilled in 2000 at a cost of more than $50 000 and a variable speed booster pump was installed to make the pressure in town more stable. According to the company s 2003 annual report, income from the system was reported at 182, while expenses were $8 283. The workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Silver Creek Convenience Store on Highway 20 in Picabo. At the workshop, customers will have an opportunity to hear from commission staff and ask questions of staff or company representatives.
