MORNING VIEW WATER COMPANY
Notice of Application for an Increase in Rates and Charges
Morning View Water Company filed an ApplicaUon with the ldaho Public UUlites
Commission on May 2,20t6 to increase rates. TheApplication is a proposal subject
to public review and a Commission decision. The Company is proposing a 100%
increase on fuly 1,20t6 for residents living on acre andlh acre lots and a 50%
increase for the mobile home park renters. Metered water usage charges will also
be applied and are to be determined bythe commission. The Company's application
states the need for in increase of $104,452 per year. Rates have not been adjusted
for almost ten years.
Residents of one acre lots would pay$98.96 per month. Residents of % acres lots
would pay $81.88 per month and mobile home park residents $48.51 per month.
Howeveras an dternative to this rate design, MorningViewWater Companyis
asHng that the Commission provide assistance in devising a new rate sTucture
based on minimum monthly charges and a metered rate for usage. Those customers
consering water wlll pay less each month.
Morning View Water Company has made capital improvements that include a third
well and updating of the other two wells in the system. A loan financed through the
Drinking Water Treatment Facility Loan Aecount needs to begin to be repaid.
A copy of the Application is on file and available for review at the Company's
business office located at 3996 E 200 N, Rigby, Idaho. A copy is also posted on the
Idaho Public Commission's website atwww.puc.idaho.gov. Anyone may subscribe
to the Commission's RSS feed to receive periodic updates via email aboutthe case.
Written comments may also be submitted to the ldaho Public Utilities Commission
on its website bygoing to the "Consumers" section and using the link to the "Case
Comment Form" or by letter sent to the Commission mailing address below.
The assigned case number, MNV-W-16-01, should be identified in all
correspondence with the ldaho Public Utilities Commission.
