PUC plans Rigby workshop for water customers

Staff from the Idaho Public Utilities Commission will conduct a public workshop for customers of the Morning View Water Company in Rigby on April 12.

The company, which serves about 85 households in rural Rigby, is seeking a 35 percent rate increase. The purpose of the workshop is to provide customers with an overview of the company’s application and answer questions. The workshop will begin at 7 p.m. in the basement meeting room of the Rigby Public Library, 110 N. State St.

If the company were granted a 35 percent increase, monthly bills would go up by $7.70 on quarter-acre lots, by $10.10 on half-acre lots and by $12.50 on acre lots.

The commission last approved a rate increase of 43 percent for Morning View Water in 2002. At the same time, the commission approved a surcharge of $5 per month to fund a contingency reserve account capped at $10,000.
